Group Fitness is an instructor led series of classes that are included in the membership. Class schedules change each semester, so make sure to check back here for the newest schedule or pick one up from the Wellness Center. Here are some of the class formats you will see on the schedule.
To participate, you must be a member of the Wellness Center. Faculty/Staff pricing is $80 per year, student memberships are included in tuition, and affiliates of USCA are $240 per year.
Cardio and Dance Focused Classes:
Zumba: Get this party started! A Latin flare to get the body moving.
Cardio Basics: Just starting to exercise? This class focuses on movements that train the heart and lungs!
Rockin Workout + Core: A high-energy, full-body cardio workout that combines rhythmic movement, strength exercises, and music-inspired drumming using Ripstix®. This fun, empowering class helps improve endurance, coordination, and stress relief while creating an energetic group fitness experience.
Line Dance: Learn the latest line dances each week!
Strength and Conditioning Focused Classes:
Boot Camp: Variety is the key to this fun and energy creating workout! A complete body workout each time!
Outdoor Boot Camp: Take the boot camp workout outside (inclement weather class will be held in the Studio).
Strong Legs: A class that will focus on conditioning and strengthening the lower portion of the body.
Strong Upper Body: A class that will focus on conditioning and strengthening the upper body.
Circuit Training: This class is set up in a circuit fashion and will train the entire body.
Cardio 101 and Circuit Training 101: The 101 classes are an introduction to exercise with a little less intensity but a great low impact workout.
Cross Training: This class will introduce a different training style to keep your body guessing. Cycle, Strength Training, Tabata-you won’t get bored and it will also be a class that students are involved with as they learn how to teach.
Strength Basics: Just starting to strength train? This class will start with primary muscle groups and progress the body as you become stronger.
Core & Stretch: This class will focus on creating a strong core (abdominals, low back and other muscles attached to the pelvic bone) and then give your muscles a fantastic cool down stretch.
HIIT Training: High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT Training is an explosive – get right down to business – way to exercise. This class focuses on short, intense intervals to condition your body. Anyone can do HIIT Training, and the instructor will give levels for every exercise.
Cycle + Strength: A mix of cycling and strength training intervals! Perfect body conditioning.
Total Body Blast: A class that will focus on exercising and strengthening the entire body.
PacerFit: This class follows the weekly strength and conditioning workout for PacerFit. It counts as your workout toward earning that t-shirt and water bottle!
Mat Pilates: A low-impact, full-body workout focused on core strength, flexibility, balance, posture, and mindful movement through controlled exercises performed on a mat.
Mind and Body Focused Classes:
Mindful Meditation: Decompress, relax and soothe your mind.
All Levels Yoga: Learn the basic postures of a classic yoga practice to lengthen and strengthen your body.
Vinyasa Yoga: Add a flow to your yoga postures that will improve cardiovascular and muscular systems.
Yoga Core: Focus on strengthening the core using yogic movements and the Pilates ball.
Tai Chi: A series of gentle physical exercises and stretches that flow in a constant motion connecting the mind and the body.
Gold Classes: Geared toward the older adult:
Zumba Gold: Zumba focusing on the older adult and low impact movements.
Zumba Gold Chair: All the fun of Zumba in a chair.
Water Aerobics (Gold): Take your workout to the water!
Strength Gold: A strength class geared toward the older adult.
Yoga Gold: Geared toward the older adult, this class will focus on balance, strength and flexibility. A chair can be used during the class.
Tai Chi: A series of gentle physical exercises and stretches that flow in a constant motion connecting the mind and the body.
Balance: Focus on movements to improve your balance and coordination.
To create an IMLeagues account:
- Visit the IMLeagues website or download their mobile app.
- Click "Create Account" and enter your information. Use your university email if applicable (@usca.edu). Submit information.
- You will be sent an activation email. Click the link in the email to log in and activate your IMLeagues account.
- You should be automatically joined to your school. If not, you can search for schools by clicking the “Schools” link.
- If you do not have an @usca.edu email, request to join the USCA Network.
Reservations will be made using the IMLeagues app or the IMLeagues website www.imleagues.com or call the natatorium during operating hours at 803-641-3431. See the instructions above for registration procedures. When asked for the facility, type out “University of South Carolina Aiken.” If you do not have a usca.edu email account, you will be prompted to request access through USCA, which we will grant you.
