The Master Teachers Series offers interconnected workshops focused on selected topics in teaching theory and practice. Faculty explore effective approaches, exchange ideas with colleagues and consider new ways to support student learning. Faculty who complete the series earn a certificate.

The Master Writers Series offers interconnected workshops that help faculty strengthen their writing. Sessions provide practical strategies for developing, refining and presenting work for professional and academic audiences. Faculty who complete the series earn a certificate.

New Faculty CONNECTions helps faculty who are new to USCA become familiar with the people, resources and services available across campus. Offered during the fall semester, these informal workshops provide practical information, encourage conversation and support a successful transition into the university community. Faculty who complete the series earn a certificate.

The Callen Center offers training in peer mentoring and peer observation of teaching. These programs help faculty provide constructive support to colleagues, strengthen teaching practices and encourage professional collaboration—all with the goal of enhancing student learning and success.

Advisor Academy prepares new faculty advisors for their roles while providing continued professional development for experienced advisors. Sessions cover effective advising practices, introduce relevant campus resources and help faculty build connections that make it easier to refer students for additional support. Faculty who complete the series earn a certificate.

Presented in partnership with the Gregg-Graniteville Library, the Library Advantage Workshop Series connects faculty with librarians to explore practical ways to enhance teaching, support student learning and strengthen research. Sessions highlight library resources, instructional strategies and opportunities for collaboration across disciplines. Faculty who complete the series earn a certificate.

Frankly Faculty is a series of monthly roundtable discussions sponsored by the Callen Center. Each session gives faculty an informal setting in which to discuss a timely topic, exchange perspectives and learn from the experiences of colleagues across disciplines.

On the Same Page brings faculty from across disciplines together through a shared reading experience. Book selections address topics related to teaching, contemporary issues or university values and provide a starting point for thoughtful discussion, reflection and interdisciplinary exchange.

AI Literacy Training introduces faculty to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its applications in higher education. Sessions help participants begin using AI tools, consider their opportunities and limitations, and learn how USCA is promoting the responsible and ethical use of AI.

Remote Teaching Certification is a self-paced course available to all faculty. The training addresses essential elements of effective online instruction, including Blackboard, accessibility and accommodations, syllabus development, and the design or revision of an online course.

Ten Minute Teaching Tips delivers concise, practical teaching ideas to faculty by email each Friday. Topics include innovative classroom approaches, effective instructional practices and stories from fellow educators—all designed to provide useful insights in ten minutes or less.

Where the serious gets fun!

The Learning Playground is an informal forum where faculty share ideas and experiences related to teaching. Each semester, three faculty members present topics of their choice, from classroom strategies and instructional practices to insights from their disciplines. The program encourages conversation, collaboration and the exchange of practical ideas among colleagues.
