What We Do


The following is a sample of the resources and services available through the Office of Global Studies and Multicultural Engagement:

Domestic and General Intercultural Program Concerns and Programming

  • African American Students’ Alliance (AASA)
  • Minority Achievement Program (MAP)
  • The Compass Leadership Program (Compass)
  • The Mosaic Multicultural Newsletter
  • Annual campus and community-wide celebrations (such as Kwanzaa, Women’s History Month and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance Day celebrations)

International Student Services

The Office of Global Studies and Multicultural Engagement acts as a liaison to the Department of Homeland Security. All matters regarding "F-1" status are handled through this office.

Incoming International Students:

  • Evaluates foreign credentials (high school transcripts) for admission
  • Provides pre arrival information to international students about the USCA and community.
  • Issues the Certificates of Eligibility for Non-Immigrant Student Status (Form I-20)
  • Conducts orientation for new international students
  • Assists school transfers

Continuing International Students:

  • Advises on how to maintain student status
  • Assists in complying with new immigration regulations such as address reporting requirement
  • Immigration regulations (including maintaining SEVIS)
  • Grants permission for less than full-time enrollment
  • Assists in applying for re-instatement
  • Approves requests for extension of study
  • Authorizes Curricular Practical Training (internships)
  • Assists with applications for off-campus employment
  • Authorizes re-entry to the US
  • Provides limited tax assistance
  • Sponsors various non-academic programs for international students
  • International Student Organization (GLOBE)
